Eszter Vitályos, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture and Innovation and Magdolna Závogyán, State Secretary for Culture, awarded the Hungarian Silver Cross of Merit to Dr. Attila Gyenesei, programmer mathematician and head of the Hungarian Centre for Genomics and Bioinformatics at the Szentágothai János Szentágothai Research Centre of the University of Pécs, on the occasion of the 20th of August (State Foundation Day of Hungary). Dr. Attila Gyenesei received the award in recognition of his work to improve the quality of patient care in Hungary and to strengthen biotechnology as the leader of the Hungarian Genome Programme, which is unique in the Central and Eastern European region.
